Catherine Beaumont 1848-1893
Catherine Byrne was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1844. Her parents were Patrick Byrne and Mary O’Brien who married in Limerick. Catherine was the youngest of their five known children. Catherine married Henry Beaumont in 1869 at Blackwood. They had seven children. One son, Augustus Henry Beaumont was awarded a merit certificate in 1892. He was a student at Djerriwarrh State School No 1635 (Walter Stewart’s ‘The Early History of Bacchus Marsh Schools’). Catherine died 30.08.1893 and was buried at Hopetoun Cemetery with her mother, Mary Byrne.
