John was the one year old son of John Shea and Margaret Burns. John Shea had a reputation as a good fighter. Mary was the daughter of the same couple. She died at Greendale at the age of 28.
It is assumed that Hanora was the mother of John Shea who married Margaret Burns and the grandmother of John and Mary Ann. Hanora was married to a John Shea in 1830 in Ireland.
