Mary Ann VALLENCE

Mary Ann Vallence             1870-1871

Mary Ann Vallence was only eight months old when she died.  She was the daughter of Patrick Vallence and Mary Ann Hearn and had four siblings.

Mary Ann’s mother, Mary Ann Hearn, was remembered on the Pioneer Women’s Memorial.  She assisted her husband in the running of the Harvest Home Hotel and continued this work for some time after his death.  Prior to his work as a hotel keeper, Patrick had a cooperage.

Mary Ann Vallence’s grandfather and Henry ‘Soapy’ Vallence’s great grandfather were brothers, Soapy Vallence was a Carlton FC legend, having played 204 games and kicked 722 goals during his stellar twelve season career.
