Mary Toomey 1856-1857
Mary, who died at two months was the youngest of seven known children of James Toomey and Frances Whitehead.
James was the son of Patrick Toomey and Catherine Murray. He was born in Co Westmeath and it seems he was convicted at Limerick and transported for life, arriving in Australia in 1827 on the ‘Eliza’. Frances was the daughter of John Whitehead and Sarah Johnson. She was born at Birmingham, UK. Frances’ first marriage was to Henry Mulholland. She married James Toomey at Bacchus Marsh on January 21st 1856.
