The ‘Express’ of 26.02.1881 reported: ‘Mr Michael Duffy, who resided in Bacchus Marsh for about eighteen years, was buried in the old Roman Catholic Cemetery on Sunday last. He was well known and respected as a Catholic school master in his early days here and afterwards as a servant of Fr O’Connell. Mr Duffy visited Ireland a few years back, and returned, taking a farm at Coimadai, where he died on Saturday last, aged 57 years. His funeral was very largely attended.’
Michael Duffy taught at the Hopetoun Denominational School and was the teacher at the Fisken St Catholic school when it opened in 1863. Honora was the daughter of Michael Dowd and Mary Connerly [probably Connelly].
