Patrick Rae (Ray) 1851-1879
Very little is known about Patrick other than him being a school teacher in the district and his surname conundrum. Wal Stewart (a careful researcher) spelt the surname ‘Rae’ in his book The Early History of Bacchus Marsh Schools. Wal writes ‘In 1879 Patrick Rae, a recently arrived young teacher at this school (Fisken Street Catholic School) tragically died from an epileptic attack while teaching here.’
