When Thomas died in 1876, age 45, Mary had a tombstone erected at Hopetoun Cemetery in his memory and in memory of their son, Michael, who died as an infant. Mary Ryan was possibly the daughter of Michael Meehan and Margaret McMahon. Thomas Ryan married Mary Meehan in 1869 in Victoria. They lived at Myrniong where their son, Michael, was born. Thomas was the son of Michael Ryan and Margaret Tynon.
